Purpose of the Role

The Lab Technician in Novi is responsible for conducting quality assurance tests on milk and water samples to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Precisely analyze milk and water samples in alignment with NCIMS/FDA and USDA standards
• Maintain required NCIMS/FDA laboratory certifications
• Adhere to good laboratory practices consistently
• Demonstrate strong attention to detail, organizational skills, multitasking capability, and effective time management
• Document and manage quality control testing records accurately
• Collaborate effectively in team environments as well as perform tasks independently
• Carry out routine laboratory cleaning and housekeeping
• Prepare culture media and chemical reagents as needed
• Support other assigned laboratory duties and tasks
• Uphold workplace safety by following all applicable safety regulations and practices
• Use technical knowledge to identify and resolve issues related to testing and equipment

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree preferably in Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science, or related field
• Previous laboratory experience is preferred
• Familiarity with Evaluation of Milk Laboratories (EML), NCIMS/FDA Milk Laboratory Accreditation, and Appendix N requirements is desirable
• Effective communication skills to convey technical information clearly and understandably

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This role requires frequent standing, walking, handling materials, reaching above the shoulders, stooping, kneeling, and crouching. Many duties involve repetitive motions. Regular activities include sitting, talking, and hearing. The technician must frequently lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.
