Job description
Role overview
The KYC Operations team supports the organisation’s AML/CFT control environment, with responsibility for customer onboarding, periodic review, and ongoing monitoring. The team partners with Compliance, senior leaders, and internal functions to make sure processes align with MAS rules, exchange expectations, and company policies, while helping manage exposure to financial crime.
This position is part of the operations function and focuses on onboarding clients, monitoring activity, and carrying out periodic reviews for retail, accredited investor, and institutional customers. The selected person will help ensure compliance with MAS Notice SFA04-N02 and internal AML/CFT standards by carrying out strong due diligence and supporting the business in controlling financial crime risk.
Key responsibilities
- Review new and existing client profiles for customer due diligence, covering both individual and corporate accounts, in line with internal procedures and MAS AML/CFT requirements under SFA04-N02.
- Work with clients directly, or through Business and Operations teams, to collect KYC details and supporting records such as questionnaires and source of wealth/source of funds documents.
- Carry out name screening, analyse transaction and activity patterns, and evaluate AML/CFT as well as sanctions-related risk.
- Complete enhanced due diligence for higher-risk relationships, including politically exposed persons and clients from high-risk jurisdictions.
- Escalate significant risk issues promptly and contribute to risk assessment and decision-making.
- Advise internal stakeholders on CDD/KYC expectations and document requirements.
- Guide junior colleagues and support quality assurance review activities.
- Look for ways to improve KYC workflows, internal controls, and overall operational effectiveness.
Requirements
- A degree in Business, Accountancy, Finance, or a similar discipline.
- At least 3 to 5 years of relevant AML/KYC experience within financial institutions, ideally in capital markets or brokerage settings.
- Strong knowledge of MAS Notice SFA04-N02 and related AML/CFT obligations for capital markets intermediaries.
- Practical exposure to onboarding clients for securities, derivatives, and investment products.
- Prior experience dealing with high-risk clients, PEP cases, and enhanced due diligence reviews.
- Working familiarity with screening platforms such as World-Check, Dow Jones, or Refinitiv.
- Professional qualifications such as ACAMS or ICA are beneficial.
- Good command of both English and Mandarin for client onboarding and document review.
