About the Role
SSP Canada manages several dining outlets within Victoria International Airport, including Spinnakers on the Fly, Fresh Cup, and Tim Hortons. This position operates inside a secure airport facility, requiring a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC), and candidates must be legally authorized to work in Canada with appropriate government-issued documentation for airport security clearance, which will be verified during onboarding in compliance with Transport Canada regulations.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all restaurant and work areas adhere to cleanliness and hygiene standards, creating a welcoming environment for guests.
- Clean and maintain various surfaces and equipment such as floors, walls, windows, ceilings, grills, refrigerators, service counters, and storage locations.
- Remove waste and dispose it properly in designated areas.
- Clear and reset tables in dining spaces between customer seating as necessary and transport service ware to kitchen areas for cleaning.
- Scrape food debris from dirty dishes, pots, and pans; wash either by hand or load into dishwashers and store items appropriately.
- Use specialized cleaning chemicals and equipment to meet health and sanitation guidelines, including operation of heavy-duty cleaning machinery if required.
- Assist guests with special requests, communicating effectively with servers or supervisors regarding any specific needs.
- Unload and load supply deliveries, moving items between storage and work zones efficiently.
- Stock, date, rotate, and monitor temperatures of food products to maintain quality and safety.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned by supervisors to support kitchen and restaurant operations.
Requirements
- Preferably six months of experience in retail or food service environments.
- High school diploma is preferred but not mandatory.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English to interact with guests and understand instructions.
- Experience with guest service and handling related situations.
- Valid food handler’s permit as mandated by regulations.
- Applicable brand certification as required for the position.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and work effectively in confined spaces.
