Job description
About the Role
This full-time position is located at Maidstone Combined Court Centre in Maidstone, England. As a Jury Officer, you will play a crucial role within the Crown Court by delivering outstanding customer service and carrying out various administrative duties. You will confidently engage with the public in the courtroom environment and work collaboratively with members of the Judiciary and other court users.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist court users and support the management of jury listings and rotas, including checking relevant files.
- Process and calculate jury expenses and manage any associated inquiries promptly.
- Work collaboratively within your team to resolve issues and contribute to smaller projects.
- Gather and assemble necessary information to support court operations.
- Ensure a prompt, courteous, and accurate service for all court users, delivering a "right first time" approach.
Required Skills and Experience
You should be approachable with strong verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating a commitment to providing proactive and efficient support to customers through phone and email channels. Effective time management, prioritization, and the ability to multitask and adapt to various IT software systems are essential. Experience in a busy environment supporting users in navigating the justice system will be advantageous.
Additional Information
This role demands presence at the court as a primarily customer-facing position. Standard full-time working hours are 37 hours per week. The organization supports part-time, flexible, and job-sharing arrangements when compatible with the business needs. However, this particular post requires full-time hours due to its critical nature.
HM Courts & Tribunals Service contributes £7,411 toward membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme, in addition to a salary of £25,582.
Applicants must have legal eligibility to work in the UK and meet nationality requirements involving UK, EU, Commonwealth and other specified nationals, in line with government immigration rules and policies. Sponsorship is only available for those maintaining specific skilled worker visa statuses as outlined.
A criminal record check and baseline personnel security standard assessments are mandatory for successful candidates.
