Overview

This position is located at Aldershot Magistrates Court and Winchester Combined Court in England. The role is to act as a bailiff, a critical frontline position tasked with engaging individuals during difficult moments.

Role and Responsibilities

The County Court Bailiff role involves visiting homes and workplaces to explain court decisions, managing challenging circumstances empathetically and professionally while enforcing court actions. Candidates should excel in communication, adapt quickly, lead confidently in stressful situations, plan workloads efficiently, and demonstrate respect towards those they engage with.

Working Hours and Locations

Standard hours are 37 per week, with flexibility for part-time or job sharing upon agreement. Two permanent vacancies exist: one full-time at Aldershot with travel to Basingstoke, and another part-time up to three days weekly at Winchester with travel to Southampton. Occasional travel in the Southwest region may be required for coverage.

Training and Support

Full bailiff training includes court management systems and field mentoring. Use of personal vehicles is permitted, with lease car options post-probation. All necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety training are provided.

Requirements and Eligibility

  • Full driving license valid for Great Britain with access to a private car.
  • Competency in IT and adaptability to court case management software.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with current immigration rules; sponsorship for Skilled Worker visa is not available unless continuous visa held prior to July 2025.
