Job description

Role overview

This London-based agency is hiring a junior sustainability consultant/strategist to support sustainability strategy, ESG reporting, and compliance-focused advisory work. The business combines sustainability expertise with creative communications, helping clients with strategy, reporting, branding, and content across a broad range of sectors, including large multinational organisations.

The team is known for its consultative style, strong technical understanding of sustainability programmes, and high-quality communications output. The role is suited to someone who has already worked in an agency or consultancy setting and is ready to grow into a more client-facing, strategically minded sustainability advisor.

What you will do

You will support senior consultants on sustainability projects that span reporting, compliance, strategy, and communications. The work will include helping clients define sustainability goals, assess material issues, and build long-term roadmaps aligned to evolving legislation and standards.

Day-to-day tasks may include emissions calculations, ESG ratings and rankings work, support for client workshops on regulatory updates, and drafting white papers or thought-leadership content. You may also contribute to new business proposals and collaborate closely with reporting and communications specialists on client delivery.

Skills and experience needed

The ideal candidate will have experience from a consultancy or agency background, particularly in sustainability strategy, best-practice reporting, or related analyst/support roles. You should already have some technical grounding in ESG and sustainability frameworks, along with an understanding of the broader corporate sustainability landscape.

You will need confidence working with complex information and turning it into clear, practical, and accessible communications. A willingness to deepen your knowledge of legislation, compliance frameworks, and strategic sustainability planning is important, as the role will help you develop into a more senior advisory position.

Technical knowledge expected

Knowledge of reporting frameworks and standards such as TCFD, SRS, and SASB is important. Familiarity with UK and European sustainability regulation, including CSRD, ISSB, CSDDD, the EU Taxonomy, and anti-greenwashing rules, is also required.

Experience with double materiality assessments is desirable, as is some understanding of GHG emissions calculations, net-zero assessments, and the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

About the opportunity

This is a chance to join a growing agency and work alongside experienced colleagues who will support your development while giving you room to contribute your own ideas and insights. The role offers exposure to high-profile clients, varied sustainability challenges, and meaningful career progression within sustainability strategy consultancy.

Compensation

The salary for this position is £40,000 to £50,000 per year.
