Job description
Role Overview
The Junior Health & Safety Advisor is responsible for supporting the enforcement and upkeep of health, safety, and environmental standards within a drinks manufacturing facility. The focus is on engineering, installation, maintenance, and commissioning operations, ensuring alignment with company policies, client expectations, and health and safety laws while fostering a positive safety culture across all employees, contractors, and subcontractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with deployment and adherence to the company's Health & Safety Management System alongside compliance with legal and client guidelines.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the site to detect potential hazards and verify that corrective actions are completed.
- Support creation and evaluation of Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), and Safe Systems of Work documentation.
- Promote safe operational practices by providing site inductions, toolbox talks, and engaging effectively with staff and external contractors.
- Help carry out investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, ensuring thorough documentation and corrective measures are logged.
- Oversee contractor activities and the Permit to Work procedures to guarantee safety of engineering tasks.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records relating to health and safety, such as inspections, training, permits, and audits.
- Encourage good housekeeping, environmental responsibility, and continual improvement in safety and environmental performance.
- Offer day-to-day health and safety assistance to mechanical and process engineering teams during installation, maintenance, and commissioning activities.
- Perform any other relevant health and safety duties as assigned.
Candidate Requirements
- 1 to 2 years of experience in a health and safety capacity or a relevant internship/placement.
- Fundamental understanding of health and safety legislation.
- Familiarity with risk assessments and safe work procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal capabilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within teams.
