Job description

Position Overview

Our client, a major player in the residential construction sector, is looking for a dedicated Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety (QEHS) Specialist to be part of their team. This role, primarily based in an office setting, involves overseeing various residential construction projects to uphold superior standards in quality, environmental compliance, health and safety, and to foster ongoing enhancement.

Key Duties

  • Manage and enhance the company's QEHS management systems consistently.
  • Ensure full adherence to applicable health and safety laws, environmental rules, and industry-leading practices.
  • Create, assess, and revise policies, procedures, risk assessments, method statements, and other QEHS-related documentation regularly.
  • Perform internal checks and audits to verify compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Investigate workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, and non-conformities; develop reports and corrective action plans accordingly.
  • Track and report on QEHS performance indicators and metrics.
  • Coordinate training programs, maintain competency records, and oversee induction processes.
  • Assist project teams with quality control and appropriate documentation processes.
  • Support audits conducted by external bodies, certification processes, and client compliance checks.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, consultants, subcontractors, and clients as required.
  • Encourage and promote a strong safety culture and champion initiatives for continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A minimum of 4 to 5 years experience in QEHS roles within the construction industry.
  • Degree or diploma in Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Construction Management, or related fields.
  • Relevant professional certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH or their equivalents.
  • Familiarity with ISO standards including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
  • In-depth knowledge of construction health and safety laws and compliance standards.
  • Proven ability in developing and managing QEHS management systems.
  • Strong skills in conducting audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent writing and documentation capabilities.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Possession of a valid full driving licence.
