Job Overview

The Junior Buyer role at COS involves supporting the buying process by choosing products that align with the brand's identity and satisfy customer demands. This role contributes to the company’s sales and profit objectives through an understanding of timing, fashion relevance, and commercial factors to make smart buying decisions. Specifically focused within the womenswear division, the position aids in executing product development, adhering to COS’s aesthetic standards and target customer profile. Collaboration with departments like Pattern, Design, Product, Material, and Supply Chain is essential to curate a commercially strong and cohesive product offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in crafting a commercial, customer-driven product assortment, contributing to product, component, color, and material selection aligned with COS style and strategic goals.
  • Support planning, analyzing, and delivering efficient product and component development that meets deadlines, profit margins, and sustainability targets, including managing sample logistics.
  • Track sales data, customer trends, and broader market movements to inform insights on pricing and product strategies based on value factors such as price, materials, and aesthetics.
  • Work closely with various internal teams including Buying, Design, Pattern, Production, Supply Chain, and Buying Controllers to ensure shared objectives, streamlined processes, and achievement of both immediate and long-term targets.
  • Encourage and motivate Assistant Buyers, foster an inclusive team environment, and take initiative for ongoing personal learning and process improvements.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Junior Buyer or similar, preferably with a background in soft woven products and a solid grasp of the full buying workflow.
  • Deep understanding of product and component development and the ability to collaborate with Design teams to convert concepts into market-ready products.
  • Strong commercial awareness with skills in interpreting customer needs, market trends, and sales results to guide purchasing decisions.
  • Comfortable with data analysis, product performance evaluation, and using insights to influence pricing and boost profitability.
  • Keen sense of fashion trends and style sensibility, capable of identifying market-relevant styles and translating these into a clear, appealing product offer.
  • Effective communication and negotiation abilities to build productive relationships across cross-functional teams including Buying, Design, Production, and Supply Chain.
  • Highly organized, able to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting, proactive, and passionate about fashion and sustainability.

This is a full-time, permanent position located at COS’s Head Office in London.
