Job description
Overview
Join COS as a Knitwear Buyer focusing on womenswear, where you'll enhance sales and profitability through strategic product and purchasing decisions tailored to customer needs. You will lead product development aligned with COS's aesthetics and clientele, ensuring an efficient and profitable selection of components and items. Collaboration across Buying, Design, Pattern, Material, and Supply Chain teams is key to delivering a commercially viable assortment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and oversee the entire product development process in coordination with the Buying team.
- Implement effective component and product development strategies focused on profitability, purpose, and sustainability.
- Partner with Assortment Planner and Senior Buyer to create a balanced and strong range plan.
- Analyze and adapt product, pricing, and profitability approaches to achieve departmental objectives.
- Support omni-channel strategy and manage timelines within the department.
- Optimize purchase timing to secure items that align with current trends and customer preferences.
- Mentor and inspire Assistant and Junior Buyers to build confidence and skill.
- Stay informed on market trends and share actionable customer insights with relevant teams.
- Develop strong ties with Production teams to ensure quality samples and timely deliveries.
- Continuously identify new sales opportunities based on sales data and market insights.
- Maintain sharp understanding of customer needs to guide product development.
- Collaborate closely with Senior Buyer, Assortment Planners, and Designers to cater to diverse customer segments.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Proven experience as a Buyer in Womenswear specializing in Knitwear.
- Background in product development, ideally with in-house design teams producing luxury or high-quality items.
- Up-to-date expertise in fashion trends, styles, fabrics, colors, and silhouettes.
- Comprehensive understanding of global fashion markets and upcoming trend forecasts.
- Strong communication skills to motivate and influence stakeholders confidently.
- Data-driven, pragmatic decision-maker focused on outcomes.
- Adept at thriving in dynamic, fast-paced environments with exceptional organizational skills and the ability to frequently adjust priorities.
Additional Details
This is a full-time, permanent position located at the London Head Office, requiring five working days per week.
