Job description
Role Overview
This part-time, non-exempt position focuses on providing hands-on guidance and encouragement to Supported Employment consumers/clients at their assigned job locations. The role is designed to help individuals succeed in the workplace by improving job performance, independence, and productivity.
Work Schedule
Hours are PRN, which means the schedule is as needed rather than fixed.
Key Duties
- Provide on-site training to consumers/clients so they can meet workplace expectations.
- Use positive support strategies while assisting individuals at work.
- Apply coaching methods that help improve motivation and productivity.
- Adapt easily to changing client and site needs.
- Work individually with clients to strengthen job skills and production standards required by employers.
- Monitor, assess, and record each consumer/client’s job performance.
- Keep detailed and accurate documentation for every consumer/client.
- Prepare the required billing forms for each consumer/client.
- Learn the different parts of the company where the consumer/client is employed.
- Introduce the consumer/client to the employer’s rules, policies, and procedures.
- Protect the confidentiality of all program participant information.
- Be willing to drive a personal vehicle to multiple work locations.
- Maintain dependable and regular attendance.
Required Qualifications
- At least 6 months of experience supervising and/or training people with disabilities.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Dependable transportation.
Preferred Background
- College degree.
- Personal experience with disability.
Skills and Competencies
- Strong verbal communication.
- Clear organization and record-keeping abilities.
- Comfort and sensitivity in working with people facing employment barriers.
- Ability to manage difficult conversations with patience and tact.
Work Environment
The job is primarily performed indoors, but it may also involve occasional outdoor work and travel between sites. While on assignment, the employee may encounter unpredictable client behavior and weather-related exposure during travel.
