Role Overview

The Jewelry Verification Specialist is responsible for performing comprehensive evaluations of jewelry items to confirm authenticity by following eBay’s defined standards. This includes documenting key identifying features necessary to complete the verification process.

This position requires the technical ability to assess various jewelry elements such as diamond quality, colored gemstone identification, gemstone weight estimation, and brand characteristics within approved skill sets. The specialist will operate under general supervision, with their technical judgments and results subject to review for accuracy and thoroughness.

Key Responsibilities

• Understand and apply eBay’s policies and procedures related to the Jewelry Verification program.
• Use established grading and identification techniques consistently.
• Identify and address exceptions during the verification process.
• Utilize jewelry expertise to detect features and treatments in gemstones.
• Work collaboratively with diverse teams.
• Execute verification across all applicable jewelry categories.

Candidate Profile

• At least one year of experience in gemological laboratory grading and gemstone identification is required.
• Experience in diamond grading is preferred.
• Strong mathematical skills, including knowledge of division, fractions, and percentages.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with others.
• Strong analytical abilities to support accurate verification decision-making.
• Fluency in both German and English is essential.
