Role overview
This position sits within the Enterprise Resilience and IT Vendor Management area and focuses on guiding IT procurement and supplier management activities in line with industry standards, internal procurement and outsourcing rules, and relevant regulations.
The selected professional will steer procurement initiatives, build sourcing plans, coordinate supplier selection and contracting, manage IT contract records, and keep the purchase-to-pay workflow running efficiently.
It is a strong opportunity for a seasoned IT vendor manager with financial services exposure to take ownership of procurement activity while advising senior leadership and important stakeholders.
This is a full-time hybrid role in Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, with a requirement to work from the office at least two days each week.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and preserve productive working relationships with both existing and prospective suppliers.
- Create and update a procurement roadmap so contract renewals are assessed, challenged, and actioned within suitable timeframes, while securing value and compliant agreements.
- Lead supplier review discussions on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
- Partner with IT and business teams to assess supplier performance and report findings, including any areas that need attention.
- Address supplier issues quickly through clear communication and coordinated action.
- Check the resilience of critical suppliers against operational resilience and digital operational resilience expectations.
- Contribute to annual budget planning and ongoing monitoring of the IT budget.
- Ensure activities remain aligned with internal policies and applicable laws.
- Keep IT contract tracking and savings reporting tools current and improved.
- Assist with oversight of outsourcing arrangements.
- Drive IT tender activity together with the Procurement function.
- Carry out market analysis to source the best-fit products and suppliers on the basis of value, quality, and delivery needs.
- Support assurance work such as audits, licence checks, and regulatory information requests.
- Help administer vendor controls, risk reviews, and reporting requirements.
- Serve as the main contact for procurement support on IT projects.
- Carry out procurement tasks assigned by management.
- Provide procurement advice and support to project teams.
- Prepare precise, timely progress updates for stakeholders.
- Join procurement, tender, and assurance review meetings as needed.
- Assist the Procurement Team with contract administration tasks.
Experience and education
A Level 8 degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Business, Procurement, Law, Technology, or a similar field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered. Formal training in procurement or procurement law would be an advantage.
The role calls for solid experience in procurement management within financial services and/or IT settings, along with a track record of handling procurement and tender processes across a range of complexity levels in matrix organisations.
Experience in procurement and contract management in regulated sectors, especially involving technology service providers, is also required.
Competencies
The ideal candidate should have a strong grasp of procurement approaches and tendering best practices, plus the ability to negotiate commercial terms and identify contractual and legal exposure.
They should be comfortable preparing and reviewing complex commercial contracts, service agreements, and framework agreements, and should be able to build supplier partnerships that improve business results and delivery performance.
Strong reporting and analytical abilities are important, along with knowledge of purchasing frameworks and sourcing choices.
The role also requires the capability to create and maintain standards, procedures, and workflows, as well as excellent teamwork, stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
A high level of self-motivation, initiative, and professionalism is expected.
