Role overview
This opportunity is for a motivated Analyst to join the UK Financial Institutions Group (FIG) within EMEA Investment Banking in London. The team works on the origination and execution of public and private M&A, capital markets transactions, and related corporate broking activity for a broad UK FIG client base.
As part of the wider EMEA FIG franchise, you will help support transactions across major product areas, work directly with colleagues in the UK and across EMEA, and contribute to J.P. Morgan’s market presence and client relationships.
You will be involved in client assignments from early-stage pitch work through to closing, including analytical work, valuation support, transaction materials, and collaboration with senior bankers. The role also offers access to ongoing learning through the firm’s continuing education programme.
Key accountabilities
- Track and cover the UK FIG landscape, including sectors such as banks, asset and wealth management, insurance and insurance services, market infrastructure, fintech, and other capital-light or capital-intensive businesses.
- Carry out detailed valuation work and other advanced analytical exercises for live mandates and client initiatives.
- Help prepare presentation packs, board documents, management presentations, memoranda, and other materials used in M&A, capital markets, and strategic discussions.
- Support transaction execution by assisting with due diligence, documentation, negotiation, and communication with clients and external advisers.
- Monitor relevant market and regulatory updates, while building a strong understanding of the client universe and sector dynamics.
Candidate profile
The firm is looking for someone with around 1 to 2 years of investment banking experience, ideally with exposure to FIG. You should bring strong financial analysis and modelling capability, a solid grasp of banking products, and experience working with clients and transaction advisers.
The ideal candidate is a fast learner who enjoys working in a team, communicates clearly, and can manage projects effectively. Strong technology skills are important, particularly advanced Excel and PowerPoint ability, along with the confidence to pick up new software quickly.
