About the Role

Scotiabank’s Global Banking and Markets division is seeking an Investment Banking Analyst specializing in the Power and Utilities sector. This role is integral to a globally recognized capital markets and investment banking platform with over a century of experience, providing comprehensive financial services across the Americas and worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain deep client relationships by leveraging Scotiabank’s extensive product suite and global capabilities to deliver tailored financial solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal product groups and industry teams within the Global Banking and Markets division to support client initiatives.
  • Engage with legal counsel, external stakeholders, and clients to nurture effective industry partnerships.
  • Analyze and assess corporate clients' financial needs through detailed financial statement reviews and market data interpretation.
  • Prepare marketing materials, client presentations, and financial models to support transaction structuring and execution.
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities with existing and prospective clients within the power and utilities sector.
  • Assist in executing transactions, gradually taking on more responsibility and accountability.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance workplace culture.

Candidate Profile

  • Possesses 0 to 3 years of professional experience in investment banking or related fields.
  • Holds a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Finance, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Science, or Technology.
  • Exhibits strong quantitative abilities, particularly in financial analysis, accounting principles, and financial theory.
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, especially Excel, for financial modeling and analysis.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for learning new concepts.
  • Willing and able to obtain and maintain relevant FINRA registrations and licenses as required.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is approximately $120,000 to $130,000 annually, subject to candidate experience and qualification.
