Investigations Analyst, Child Safety

Role overview

Meta’s Central Investigations team works to reduce harm across the company’s technologies by using deep investigative expertise to spot and address safety threats. This role is focused on high-impact, sensitive investigations tied to child safety and the ways bad actors may try to coordinate harm against minors and other vulnerable groups.

The right candidate will bring a strong investigative and analytical track record, sound risk-based judgment, and a genuine commitment to protecting people. The work involves evaluating large datasets, identifying threat sources, making decisions independently in a fast-moving environment, and partnering closely with teams across the company.

Key duties

• Carry out complex investigations and detailed analysis of possible threats to minors, especially child sexual exploitation concerns that may appear on Meta technologies.
• Examine safety risks affecting minors and assess how those risks may impact Meta, its products, and its communities, with attention to bad actors targeting young or vulnerable people.
• Own multiple investigations at once and decide what to prioritize based on severity, impact, and deadlines.
• Trace abusive activity to its source and judge the credibility of suspected threats quickly and accurately to reduce the chance of harm.
• Partner across Policy, Engineering, Integrity, and other analytic or investigative groups to strengthen detection of behaviors that violate Community Standards.
• Collect, interpret, and combine relevant information to uncover possible abuse patterns.
• Handle graphic and highly sensitive material as part of the regular workflow.

Minimum qualifications

• Active commitment to building AI skills and keeping up with new AI technologies.
• Ability to work autonomously under pressure and make well-reasoned decisions with minimal supervision.
• At least 8 years of professional experience in investigations or analysis within law enforcement, security, risk, or safety fields.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Excellent investigative judgment and the ability to rapidly evaluate large volumes of data for critical, credible signals.
• BA/BS degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent background.
• Working knowledge of child safety issues, especially in relation to social media platforms, analytical tools, and online research tools.
• Experience dealing with sensitive material such as graphic violence, graphic content, and/or CSAM.
• Strong discretion and a clear commitment to safeguarding confidential information.
• Prior investigative or analytical experience involving online harms against children and vulnerable populations.

Preferred qualifications

• Ability to use languages other than English, especially when reviewing content or working with non-English-speaking teams.
• Experience with open-source investigations and/or investigations conducted for a technology company.
• Background in child safety investigations, or similar work, for a technology company.
• Experience collaborating with teams spread across multiple locations and time zones.
• Continued AI learning, including prompt/context engineering and agent orchestration.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, or other analytics languages, plus data visualization tools.
• Ability to apply AI tools to improve workflows and produce measurable gains in efficiency or quality.
• Experience using responsible and ethical AI practices, including risk assessment, bias mitigation, and quality/accuracy checks.

Compensation and benefits

The posted base pay range is $141,000 to $199,000 per year, plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Final compensation depends on skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The stated figure reflects base salary only and does not include bonus, equity, or sales incentives where applicable.
