Job description
About Rocket Lab
Rocket Lab is a fully integrated space company focused on fast, responsive launch services as well as spacecraft design, manufacturing, payloads, satellite parts, and related technologies. Its work supports major space missions around the world, including scientific research, Earth observation, climate-focused initiatives, national security, and technology demonstration programs.
The company’s Electron rocket is now the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket each year and has carried more than 230 satellites into orbit. In parallel, Rocket Lab is developing Neutron, a reusable medium-lift launch vehicle designed for larger constellation deployments. Its Space Systems division builds satellites, payloads, and components, including hardware selected for NASA missions to the Moon and Mars, along with parts used on the James Webb Space Telescope.
Supply Chain Team
The Supply Chain function manages the movement of materials, products, and components across the business. Because many of these items are mission-critical, the team plays a direct role in the success of Rocket Lab’s rocket and satellite programs. Responsibilities include building assembly kits for Electron and Neutron production, handling inventory, managing shipping and receiving, supporting procurement, and checking that materials and products meet required standards.
Role Overview
This on-site position is based at Rocket Lab’s Auckland Production Complex in Mt. Wellington, Auckland, New Zealand. The Inventory Coordinator II keeps thousands of components and many orders moving smoothly for both internal and external customers on a just-in-time basis. The role supports Operations in meeting daily and weekly production targets, including helping manage production changes and priority shifts. It also helps maintain strong Supply Chain DIFOT performance and high service levels so the correct items reach the correct location at the right time.
Key Duties
- Process incoming materials using FIFO practices, follow applicable standard procedures, and maintain accurate stock movement and inventory data in LN.
- Track down inventory variances, resolve mismatches, and complete daily cycle counts to support inventory accuracy.
- Keep the warehouse orderly and aligned with 5S expectations while following standard operating processes.
- Deliver components, production kits, and Kanban materials accurately and on schedule to meet manufacturing priorities.
- Pick, pack, and send items efficiently, and carry out logistics runner work to support day-to-day operations.
- Relocate and replenish raw materials when needed and work with other teams to reduce bottlenecks.
- Assist walk-up customers in a professional, service-oriented manner.
- Observe health and safety rules, use the required PPE, and report near misses or incidents without delay.
- Take on other reasonable tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
This role requires a high school diploma and at least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. Candidates should be comfortable using Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access, and have familiarity with MRP/ERP systems.
The position follows a night shift schedule of 40 hours per week, Monday through Thursday from 3:00 pm to 1:30 am.
Preferred Qualifications
Additional strengths that would be an advantage include an associate degree or bachelor’s degree, plus 2+ years of experience in a stores environment handling both incoming and outgoing goods in fast-moving manufacturing, automotive, or aviation settings.
Experience with stock control and quality processes is beneficial, along with strong organization, excellent attention to detail, the ability to work independently in a structured way, clear communication skills, and the ability to build effective working relationships in a demanding customer-focused environment. Comfort working under pressure, meeting tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities, and adapting to changing demands is also valuable. A dependable team player who is willing to work extra hours when needed and takes a proactive approach will fit well in this role.
Additional Requirements
- Ability to sit for long periods while using a computer, keyboard, and office equipment.
- Capability to read documents, view screens, and distinguish details at different distances.
- Mobility to move between buildings, attend meetings, and access different work areas.
- Occasional work in production areas where moderate noise, dust, and fumes may be present.
What to Expect
Rocket Lab operates in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment where teamwork, determination, innovation, and a strong sense of accountability matter. The company values people who work hard, stay focused on delivery, support one another, and tackle both large and small tasks with the same level of commitment. Success here depends on resilience, collaboration, and the ability to keep moving toward ambitious goals even when the work is demanding.
