Role overview

This is a permanent full-time expatriate relocation role that requires a complete move to Saudi Arabia. The position sits within the Media Relations Division (MRD) under the Media Communications & Coordination Department (MCCD) at Saudi Aramco. The team is responsible for managing the company’s communications with journalists and international media outlets.

The specialist will help shape and deliver media communications that support corporate priorities, strengthen the organization’s reputation in important markets, and ensure consistent messaging across global media channels.

Key duties

  • Create and refine press releases and other media-facing materials.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with journalists and media organizations, including major international, trade, specialist, print, digital, and broadcast outlets.
  • Support senior leaders with guidance on strategic media matters.
  • Assist with crisis communication planning and response activities.
  • Contribute to quarterly results communications, including media calls and interview coordination.
  • Prepare executive media briefings, Q&A documents, and communication plans.
  • Arrange media visits, interviews, and background briefings.
  • Provide in-person media support to executives at international events, conferences, and company activities.
  • Handle media inquiries quickly and professionally.
  • Develop messaging that clearly presents the company’s strategic priorities to a global audience.
  • Spot opportunities for high-value media engagement around key projects.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to support the goals of the International Media Relations Unit.
  • Coordinate with colleagues in media relations to deliver projects effectively.
  • Ensure all work supports the company’s strategy and broader corporate communications plan.
  • Work effectively under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
  • Review the impact of communications initiatives and recommend improvements.
  • Address day-to-day issues and resolve problems as they emerge.
  • Adapt quickly when priorities, deadlines, or expectations change.
  • Manage projects from start through completion.
  • Follow internal policies and procedures relevant to the role.

Required experience and qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required, preferably in journalism or communications from an accredited and approved program.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of experience in journalism, media relations, or corporate communications is required.
  • Experience may come from either an agency environment or an in-house corporate setting.
  • Background in the energy sector is preferred.
  • Prior work as a spokesperson is preferred.
  • Strong crisis communications experience is considered an advantage.
