Role Overview
Our Audit team plays a vital role by collaborating closely with Risk and Compliance to design, implement, and improve internal risk management and compliance processes. We are currently seeking a dedicated Internal Auditor with expertise in financial crime to support regulatory audits and execute internal audit processes, adapting to evolving audit topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Head of FinCrime Audit to design and implement audit programs that align with internal policies, regulatory mandates, and professional internal auditing standards.
- Utilize data analytics throughout the audit lifecycle to enhance risk identification, test controls effectively, and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Assist in recognizing pertinent risks and regulatory obligations to define audit scopes appropriately.
- Engage with team members across departments to gain comprehensive understanding of risks, control environments, and operational procedures.
- Effectively communicate audit findings and discuss improvement areas with management.
- Produce detailed audit reports outlining deficiencies, diagnosing root causes, and recommending measures to mitigate risks while adding value.
- Conduct ongoing research and complete necessary training to stay current in the field.
- Partner with business units to develop recommendations targeting audit findings, process enhancements, internal controls, and compliance adherence.
- Follow up on previously identified audit deficiencies to ensure corrective actions have been implemented.
- Oversee audit project timelines, scope adherence, and manage projects end-to-end, escalating issues as needed in a timely fashion.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 5 years experience in audit roles within a regulated financial services setting.
- Undergraduate or master’s degree in a quantitative field.
- Strong knowledge of current regulatory frameworks such as EU Money Laundering Directives, UK FCA regulations, UK Money Laundering Regulations, UK Bribery Act, and JMLSG Guidance.
- Advanced ability to work with and interpret complex data sets.
- Motivated and eager to continuously learn, develop skills, and make a swift impact within a growing team.
- Superior critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication abilities fostering effective collaboration across diverse teams.
- High proficiency with modern digital tools and technologies.
- Strong organizational and project management aptitude.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience thriving in fast-moving environments with focus on timely execution.
- Familiarity with SQL, SAS, Python, Registered Audit Compliance Associate (RACA), and/or Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) qualifications is advantageous.
