Job description
Role overview
Tesla’s Semi Service Training team is hiring a driven Instructional Designer to help accelerate the shift to sustainable energy by building high-quality learning experiences for Semi Service. In this role, you’ll bring subject matter expertise to the development of clear, effective training content across the full Semi Service landscape, including instructor-led and online learning. The work calls for creativity, initiative, and a willingness to both contribute ideas and be challenged by complex problems.
What you will do
- Collaborate directly with subject matter experts to shape engaging learning content for different audiences and delivery formats such as online modules and webinars, using practical methods that support the intended learning outcomes.
- Support the training and onboarding needs of both internal teams and external partners alongside the Semi Service Training group.
- Suggest alternative tools, designs, or layouts that can improve the learner experience in existing courses and training materials.
- Update and refine current learning assets while considering the target audience, training format, and other learning factors, with a focus on communicating objectives efficiently.
- Coordinate multiple training development projects at the same time while managing schedules and budgets.
- Work with content specialists and stakeholders to produce interactive, accurate, and easy-to-understand materials such as standard guides, web-based training, and presentations.
- Act as a creative connector between technical teams and innovation-focused groups to help close training gaps.
What you should bring
- A bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline, experience building and designing training curricula, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A strong eLearning portfolio, or the capability to produce polished eLearning content based on prior work in web-based training, technical writing, and standard guide development.
- Hands-on experience with learning content tools such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Captivate, and Articulate Storyline.
- The ability to communicate ideas clearly in both written and spoken form.
- A collaborative mindset with the flexibility to work independently when needed and with minimal oversight.
- Curiosity about Tesla’s strategic goals and how learning and development can address workforce skill and knowledge gaps.

As a full-time employee, benefits are available from the first day of hire and include medical plans with $0 payroll deduction options, family-building support including fertility, adoption, and surrogacy benefits, dental and vision coverage with $0 paycheck contribution options, employer HSA contributions with the high-deductible medical plan, healthcare and dependent care FSAs, a 401(k) with employer match, employee stock purchase plans, company-paid basic life and AD&D coverage, short- and long-term disability insurance with a 90-day waiting period, an employee assistance program, sick and vacation time, paid holidays, back-up childcare and parenting resources, voluntary coverage options such as critical illness, hospital indemnity, accident, theft and legal services, and pet insurance, weight loss and tobacco cessation programs, the Tesla Babies program, commuter benefits, and employee discounts and perks.
