Team Lead Quality, Battery - Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg

About the Role

Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg is a critical milestone in Tesla’s global mission to drive sustainable energy adoption. In the position of Team Lead Quality, you will be responsible for ensuring that both products and manufacturing processes meet Tesla’s high-quality standards across various production segments such as General Assembly, Body & White, Paint, Plastics, Injection Molding, Drive Unit Inverter, and Battery.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee both inline and offline quality evaluations of products and processes to ensure compliance with defined specifications and standards.
• Conduct thorough root cause analyses of defects, pinpoint systemic problems, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
• Work collaboratively with Quality Engineering teams to refine manufacturing procedures, minimizing waste and enhancing product dependability.
• Create and keep up-to-date quality documentation including control plans, FMEAs, and standard operating procedures.
• Lead and guide a team comprising 10 to 25 quality inspectors, assigning responsibilities and cultivating a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with production, engineering, and logistics departments to resolve quality challenges and assist with new product introductions.
• Prepare comprehensive quality reports, interpret trend data, and communicate insights to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain compliance with ISO standards, safety regulations, and Tesla’s internal quality management frameworks.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a technical qualification such as an engineering or mechatronics degree, or equivalent vocational credentials like certified technician, automotive painter, or plastics expert.
• Bring at least three years of quality assurance experience in manufacturing, preferably within the automotive industry, with specialized knowledge in areas such as assembly, injection molding, paint, body-in-white, or electronics.
• Experienced using quality management tools including Statistical Process Control (SPC), Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), 5Why, and 8D methodologies.
• Able to interpret technical blueprints and operate measurement devices like calipers and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
• Familiar with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality standards.
• Competent in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage teams, delegate tasks, and achieve results in dynamic settings.
• Strong analytical aptitude for problem-solving and implementing long-lasting quality improvements.
• Fluency in German, both written and spoken; proficiency in English is an advantage.
• Flexible regarding shift work and adaptable to shifting production requirements.
