Job description
Position Overview
The Incident Response Manager is responsible for managing critical communications incidents to ensure swift and effective resolution. This role involves developing and enforcing incident response strategies, collaborating across teams, and analyzing incidents to spot trends and enhance future responses. The manager also works to prevent recurrence by applying best practices within a solid incident management framework.
Main Duties
- Collaborate closely with Speedcast’s end customers and their operations teams to handle technical incident response from start to finish.
- Evaluate the incident’s nature and decide on the necessary internal resources for prompt resolution and service restoration.
- Manage IOT Tracking portal updates, oversee Iridium Certus operations, and handle daily checks and escalations for small form-factor devices.
- Take overall responsibility for coordinating all activities to contain and resolve incidents efficiently.
- Ensure stakeholders receive timely updates regarding ongoing incidents.
- Create and regularly update comprehensive incident response plans.
- Lead debriefs after incidents and conduct root cause analyses.
- Stay informed about current threat landscapes and vulnerabilities.
- Work continuously with customers to enhance incident response processes.
Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in managing incidents within critical communications environments is mandatory.
- Ability to work onsite in Hobart, Australia, for at least eight months annually, especially between August and March, with optional travel back to Adelaide for one week each month.
- Flexibility to be available beyond normal hours during project events such as refueling, logistics, and traversing phases.
- Strong organizational, tracking, and analytical skills to gather, analyze, and report factual data leading to logical conclusions.
- Excellent problem-solving capabilities, adaptable to shifting priorities and directives.
- Self-motivated with the initiative to identify potential issues proactively and effectively manage multiple tasks with minimal oversight.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling confident communication with customers and senior leadership.
- Committed to delivering top-tier service excellence to customers.
- Possession of ITIL Foundation certification and familiarity with ServiceNow is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- A technical or business-related bachelor’s degree or comparable experience; military background is also considered.
- Strong command of ITIL standards and proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
