Role Overview
We are inviting an Import/Export Specialist for the Africa South Supply Chain team to ensure regulatory compliance and operational excellence across South Africa, Namibia, Zambia, and Tanzania. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager and based in the South Africa office, you will serve as the regional expert on customs and trade compliance.
Responsibilities
- Lead activities ensuring customs compliance including monitoring, assurance, and preparing for audits for import/export operations in the Africa South region.
- Perform pre- and post-clearance reviews ensuring accuracy, adherence to customs regulations, and proper documentation.
- Manage and evaluate the performance of customs brokers, identify any compliance issues, and enforce necessary corrective measures.
- Develop and maintain reporting tools such as dashboards to provide actionable management insights supporting decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams and external bodies such as customs authorities to uphold trade governance and permits compliance.
Candidate Profile
- A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Trade, Commerce, Law, Finance, or an allied discipline.
- At least five years' experience in customs compliance or international trade, specifically in import/export operations.
- Proven track record managing relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, or third-party logistics providers.
- Experienced in conducting customs audits, compliance inspections, and post-clearance evaluations.
- In-depth knowledge of customs valuation, tariff classification, rules of origin, customs documentation, and managing permits.
