Role Purpose
The IELTS Examiner role involves delivering impartial, expert evaluation of candidates' speaking abilities within the IELTS test framework. The examiner ensures consistent and uniform assessment standards during test sessions.
Primary Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive training conducted by the Test Centre’s Examiner Trainer to ensure readiness.
- Participate regularly in examination sessions, conducting assessments at least once per month.
- Engage in periodic re-training and re-certification processes as scheduled.
- Maintain strict confidentiality and security of test materials and processes at all times.
- Comply fully with the Examiner Code of Practice, including adherence to confidentiality undertakings and participation in the Peer Support Network.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Possession of an undergraduate or master’s degree.
- Holds a recognized TESOL qualification equivalent to or higher than Certificate IV.
- At least three years of ESL teaching experience focused on adult learners.
- Demonstrated personal qualities suitable for the role of an examiner.
- Meets the Minimum Professional Requirements (MPRs) specified for examiners.
- Committed to attending regularly scheduled testing sessions.
- Strong understanding and dedication to maintaining test confidentiality and security protocols.
- Adherence to IELTS policies and procedures.
- Ability to work autonomously and follow assessment criteria and test administration guidelines.
- Capability to remain calm and professional under pressure or in unforeseen situations.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Availability to work on Saturdays.
Desirable Attributes
