Barista - Full Time

Role Overview

As a Barista at Pret, you will be a vital member of the team responsible for preparing and serving Barista-quality drinks that meet Pret's high standards. Your role is key to delivering exceptional customer experiences with enthusiasm and expertise.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare all Barista drinks consistent with Pret's established quality standards.
• Provide excellent customer service by engaging customers about Pret's coffee story and menu, effectively managing queues, and delivering drinks promptly.
• Coach and train team members and Baristas in Training on proper drink preparation and standards.
• Perform daily and weekly maintenance and cleanliness checks on Barista equipment and the drinks counter to ensure a consistently welcoming environment.
• Maintain accurate logs, carry out thermometer calibrations, and conduct safety tests in line with health and food safety regulations and Pret processes.
• Manage inventory and control waste to support shop profitability, addressing any stock discrepancies and wastage issues as directed.
• Attend coffee-related training, meetings, and briefings to stay updated on product knowledge and Barista standards.
• Role model Pret's dress code by wearing the correct Barista uniform and presenting a professional appearance at all times.
• Strive to exceed customer expectations by showcasing skills such as latte art and creating an energetic and positive atmosphere known as ‘Pret Buzz’.
• Support shop growth by understanding and contributing to Barista drink sales targets and ensuring the availability of necessary stock and materials.

Candidate Requirements

The role includes performing duties defined under 'Team Member Star' responsibilities as business needs require. Candidates are expected to demonstrate strong adherence to health, safety, and food safety standards and proactively communicate any concerns about these to management. Maintaining the quality of milk and coffee through regular tasting and measuring is essential, as is staying informed about competitor barista prepared drinks.
