At Brighter Foods, located in LL36 9LW, the Hygiene Operative role supports THG Manufacturing, which produces top nutrition and wellness products including powders, capsules, tablets, snacks, and bars under brands like Myprotein, Myvegan, and Myvitamins. Our facilities boast advanced equipment enabling full control from product concept to distribution, ensuring innovation, quality, and scalability in a dynamic industry.

Role Overview

The Hygiene Operative is crucial in maintaining impeccable cleanliness and hygiene throughout the site to meet stringent food safety standards and regulatory compliance. The role involves cleaning shared spaces and production corridors and working closely with the Hygiene Lead to ensure all hygiene-related tasks are performed efficiently, safely, and to high standards. The shift pattern consists of four days on followed by four days off, with 8-hour day shifts averaging 28 hours per week, and flexible start times between 7am and 7pm.

Key Duties

• Conduct scheduled routine and deep cleaning of offices, toilets, and canteen/welfare areas following established cleaning protocols and schedules.
• Assist with the accurate receipt, storage, and management of hygiene and cleaning supplies.
• Monitor stock of cleaning equipment, materials, and chemicals to ensure availability and timely replenishment.
• Operate and maintain cleaning equipment safely and correctly.
• Report any maintenance or repair issues discovered during cleaning.
• Clean internal and external ground floor windows to uphold presentation and hygiene standards.
• Strictly adhere to food safety guidelines, hygiene protocols, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate documentation of cleaning activities for audit and traceability purposes.
• Support internal and external hygiene audits as required.
• Coordinate with other departments to manage cleaning requirements and resolve hygiene matters.
• Assist with additional tasks as required by business needs or seasonal demands.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience in a hygiene or cleaning role, preferably within food manufacturing or warehouse environments.
• Good understanding of hygiene and food safety practices; training will be offered if needed.
• Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and schedules.
• Self-driven with proactive work habits.
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively.
• Physically fit to perform manual handling and cleaning duties.
• Desirable: COSHH awareness or chemical handling training; experience using industrial cleaning machines.
