Hybrid Registered Nurse - Wound Care Specialist

Position Overview

Pikes Peak Post Acute is looking to hire a compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in wound care who will provide expert nursing services across two facilities in Westerville and Dublin. This hybrid position requires traveling between both skilled nursing homes to ensure high quality wound management and resident care.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain open communication with residents and their families regarding care plans and therapeutic treatments.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care following physician orders, including medication administration and wound treatments, while preserving resident dignity.
• Accurately assess wounds and pressure ulcers, documenting observations thoroughly, and immediately notifying physicians of poor healing progress or infection signs.
• Ensure wound care strategies incorporate appropriate support such as specialized mattresses and nutritional supplements to encourage healing.
• Collaborate in developing and updating treatment care plans, assisting physicians during examinations, and coordinating with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
• Notify families and physicians promptly of significant changes in wound condition, treatment responses, medication availability, or any treatment risks.
• Participate in orientation and continuous training programs for nursing staff and contribute to regulatory inspections upon request.
• Supervise nursing team members as part of broader personnel oversight.

Qualifications and Experience

• Possession of an accredited Nursing Degree.
• Minimum of two years' experience in nursing, preferably within long-term care settings.
• Current, unrestricted Registered Nurse or Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurse license and valid CPR certification.
• Experience with PCC software is desirable.
• Commitment to ongoing professional education and maintaining good standing with the State Board of Nursing.

Skills and Abilities

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with residents, families, and healthcare teams.
• Ability to comprehend and apply complex policies, procedures, and practical problem-solving in clinical scenarios.
• Basic mathematical skills to interpret and work with medical data.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

• Regularly standing, walking, reaching, pushing/pulling, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
• Occasional sitting, climbing, balancing, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Visual capabilities including close and distance vision, color perception, and depth perception with ability to adjust focus.
• Work environment typically has low to moderate noise levels.
