Job description
About the company
Pomelo Care is a virtual medical practice focused on the health of women and children. Its care model supports patients through pregnancy, the postpartum period, pediatrics, menopause, and perimenopause. The organization combines proactive clinical support available around the clock with technology that helps identify risks earlier and personalize care across the patient journey. The wider team brings together clinicians, technologists, operators, and problem-solvers to make high-quality care more reachable for families across the country.
Role overview
In this HR Business Partner position, you will work closely with the Growth and Technology teams to keep core People programs operating effectively. Reporting to the Senior HRBP, you will handle day-to-day HR program execution, support strong people operations, and own key HRBP responsibilities such as leave management, accommodations, and employee relations.
The role blends people operations with practical partnership work, giving you ownership over a wide set of HR responsibilities while also contributing to the systems and initiatives that support the company’s growth.
This position reports to a Senior HR Business Partner and may be based anywhere in the continental United States.
Key responsibilities
- Act as a dependable first point of contact for employees and managers with questions about internal policies, standard HR processes, and routine performance or engagement matters.
- Handle lower-complexity employee relations issues independently using established HR practices, while supporting senior HRBPs on more involved cases through documentation, follow-up, and equitable policy application.
- Support employees through leaves of absence and accommodation requests with empathy, accurate recordkeeping, cross-functional coordination, and strict confidentiality.
- Coordinate the full lifecycle of people programs such as engagement surveys and performance review cycles, including timelines, communications, and participation tracking.
- Work with Senior HRBPs to review data, improve processes, and partner with leaders to help these programs deliver strong outcomes.
- Run recurring culture and recognition initiatives, both virtual and in person, such as peer recognition tools, focus groups, shout-outs, and company offsites.
- Track follow-through items from pulse and culture initiatives so organizational action plans keep moving forward.
- Maintain thorough documentation, trackers, and project schedules across active HR programs, while looking for ways to make workflows more scalable.
Candidate profile
- 2 to 4 years of progressive experience in HR, People Operations, or Employee Experience is required; experience in a high-growth startup or fast-paced, remote-first environment is strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of core HR processes, including onboarding, offboarding, performance management, and leave administration.
- Excellent emotional intelligence, sound judgment, and clear communication skills, with the ability to build trust quickly and handle sensitive information discreetly.
- Comfort working in ambiguous situations, with a curious mindset and a preference for solving problems rather than simply executing instructions.
- Comfortable using HRIS data, spreadsheets, and survey metrics to identify trends and prepare concise executive-ready reports.
- Highly organized and detail-focused, with a track record of juggling multiple priorities, timelines, and trackers without missing important details.
