Job description

Role Overview

The Room Attendant is tasked with preparing and maintaining guest rooms, suites, and villas to an ultra-luxury standard of cleanliness and comfort. The position plays an important part in meeting daily LQA (Luxury Quality Assurance) and brand expectations, while also safeguarding guest privacy and security and addressing maintenance issues, requests, and complaints professionally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work from the daily assignment sheet and room-priority list, completing cleaning tasks in the required order and keeping room status information up to date.
  • Thoroughly clean bathrooms by removing dirt, soap residue, hair, and grime from mirrors, sinks, vanities, toilets, showers, bathtubs, curtains, and floors.
  • Strip used linen, remake beds with fresh linens, and check bathrobes for wear or damage, replacing any items that are not suitable for guest use.
  • Dust and polish furniture, artwork, frames, mirrors, televisions, alarm clocks, remote controls, windows, and ledges with care.
  • Perform detailed cleaning of closets, door tracks, baseboards, corners, ledges, carpets, and hidden areas such as under beds and chairs, especially in departure rooms.
  • Clear balconies and patios of debris, trash, and cobwebs, and check planters and plants for cleanliness and condition.
  • Restock guest-room supplies such as tissues, bathroom amenities, laundry bags, stationery, and guest directories in the correct quantities and placement.
  • Move housekeeping carts safely to assigned locations, ensuring linens, supplies, and amenities are secure, and replenish the cart before finishing the shift.
  • Set room clocks correctly, confirm the television is on the proper channel, and inspect lamps and light switches to ensure they work properly.
  • Drain and dry ice buckets, clean mini-bars of dust and spills, and make sure they remain plugged in and locked securely.
  • Empty and clean vacuum bags and equipment after use so tools remain in good working order.
  • Maintain a courteous, helpful, and professional attitude with guests and colleagues, and follow the approved six-step complaint-handling process when issues arise.
  • Protect assigned room keys at all times, and hand over any lost-and-found items from guest rooms to the supervisor without delay.
  • Check that fire safety cards, rate cards, and DND signs are in place and replace them whenever necessary.
  • Comply with all OSHMS, occupational health, and safety requirements while on duty.
  • Take care of personal safety and the safety of others, use the correct chemicals for the correct surfaces, and report hazards, incidents, or injuries immediately to the Hygiene and Occupational Health and Safety Manager.
  • Prevent slips and falls by cleaning spills at once, placing wet-floor signage where needed, and keeping electrical cords out of walkways.
  • Use PPE properly, follow safe lifting methods, seek assistance for heavy items, and attend all required safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions.

Experience and Education

  • At least 1 year of experience cleaning hotel guest rooms is required, preferably in a luxury hospitality setting.
  • A high school diploma is required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Fast, accurate, and detail-focused work style
  • Strong judgment and calm problem-solving under pressure
  • Professional housekeeping and room-cleaning techniques
  • Safe handling of cleaning chemicals
  • Familiarity with housekeeping equipment and supplies
  • Clear written, spoken, and read English communication
  • Ability to work respectfully with guests and team members
  • Awareness of safety, hygiene, and accident-prevention practices
