Role Overview

The Pool Technician is tasked with ensuring the safe, efficient, and hygienic operation of all swimming pools, Jacuzzis, water features, and associated plumbing within the hotel. This includes managing water circulation, filtration, sanitation, and chemical treatment while strictly following health, safety, and hospitality standards. The role involves conducting routine inspections, preventive maintenance, water quality testing, repairs, and maintaining excellent water clarity to guarantee guest safety. Plumbing responsibilities include leak repairs, upkeep of domestic water systems, drainage maintenance, and sustained water supply across guest rooms and staff areas.

Key Duties

  • Comply fully with departmental policies, service procedures, and standards.
  • Understand and use equipment properly and safely according to intended purposes.
  • Respond quickly to guest needs, maintain positive interactions, and resolve complaints effectively to ensure satisfaction.
  • Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and orderliness of work environments.
  • Act as Senior Technician in their absence.
  • Monitor and promptly address requests through the Unifox SMMS system including emergencies.
  • Inspect and organize supply and storage areas, delegating corrective tasks as needed.
  • Plan and order materials for special projects coordinating schedules to avoid conflicts with other departments.
  • Conduct building rounds to check for fire hazards, faulty equipment, and lighting issues.
  • Maintain the Engineering Logbook and Night Report accurately documenting problems and actions taken.
  • Repair and maintain pool mechanical equipment including internal and external pools, fountains, Jacuzzis, and steam baths.
  • Perform routine water testing daily, maintaining chemical records to ensure chlorine and pH levels meet standards safe for human use, not exceeding allowable parameter ranges.
  • Manage chemical stock levels by notifying storekeeper at least seven days before depletion and maintain a logbook.
  • Check operation of all pool plant rooms, heat pumps, and water feature pumps; report faults promptly and execute minor repairs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Replace burnt-out lamps in swimming pool areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness and tidiness of all work and pool plant areas, workshops, and tool storage.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves and life safety gear when handling chemicals.
  • Other duties as assigned to support department and hotel operations.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

  • Minimum of five years’ experience in building maintenance as a plumber or pool technician, preferably within luxury or ultra-luxury hotels or resorts.
  • High school diploma required.
  • Detail-oriented with ability to work efficiently, prioritize tasks, organize workflow, and exercise sound judgment under pressure.
  • Capability to comprehend guest needs, work cooperatively in a team, and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • Technical knowledge including building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration systems, water treatment programs, and understanding of blueprints and schematics.
  • Ability to enforce hotel standards, delegate and supervise tasks, provide training, and motivate team members.
  • Fluent English speaking, reading, and writing skills. Additional languages are advantageous.
  • Physical capability to perform various movements, stand for extended periods, and communicate effectively with guests and colleagues.
