Key Accountability
The Housekeeping Attendant plays a vital role in maintaining a clean and sanitary living environment for residents, acting as the first defense in infection control and prevention. Reporting directly to the Environmental Services Manager, this position ensures all housekeeping duties are completed efficiently with attention to residents' comfort and safety.
Background and Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 education is mandatory.
- At least two years of experience in a comparable housekeeping role is preferred.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Strong attention to detail to guarantee all cleaning tasks meet required standards.
- A reliable and responsible team player who can also work independently with a positive attitude.
- Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable handling cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and hazardous materials.
Primary Responsibilities
- Engage in continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Follow infection prevention protocols to protect residents' health and safety.
- Perform scheduled cleaning, laundry, and vacuuming for resident suites.
- Maintain cleanliness of all shared areas per policies and schedules.
- Restock necessary housekeeping supplies as needed.
- Conduct additional sanitization tasks as required.
- Collect and dispose of waste from containers daily.
- Keep housekeeping supplies, storage areas, equipment, and carts clean and orderly.
- Offer general assistance to residents when necessary.
- Report any equipment or maintenance issues promptly to supervisors.
- Complete assigned Occupational Health and Safety audits.
- Maintain effective communication with colleagues and management, using proper channels.
- Perform other related duties as directed by the Environmental Services Manager.
- Adhere to all corporate policies including mandatory training and education requirements.
- Comply with health and safety legislation and participate in safety programs such as fire prevention and pest control.
