About the role

Comfort Keepers is seeking a caring and dependable housekeeper to provide non-medical, in-home support in Oak Bay, British Columbia. The role is centered on helping clients remain comfortable, safe, and independent in their own homes while delivering respectful, compassionate service. This position is ideal for someone who naturally enjoys supporting others and values dignity, reliability, and professionalism.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver non-medical assistance in line with each client’s individual Plan of Care.
• Provide companionship through conversation, reading, activities, and other social interaction.
• Help support emotional well-being and keep clients mentally engaged.
• Carry out light housekeeping duties such as vacuuming, dusting, laundry, and bathroom cleaning.
• Prepare meals for clients as needed.
• Notice and communicate any changes in a client’s physical, emotional, or mental condition.
• Keep communication clear and professional with clients and team members.
• Complete documentation accurately and within required timelines.
• Take part in training sessions, staff meetings, and continuing education.
• Protect client confidentiality and use equipment safely.
• Handle additional related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma is the minimum educational requirement.
• Current CPR and First Aid certification, or a willingness to keep it up to date.
• Vulnerable Sector Police Records Check.
• Reliable transportation is preferred; a valid driver’s licence and insurance are an added advantage.
• Dependable, punctual, and committed to quality client care.
• Comfortable working independently with limited supervision.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow both written and spoken instructions.
• Genuine care for helping others, along with honesty and integrity.
• Ability to handle regular physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, reaching, and light lifting up to 12 kg / 25 lbs.
• Manual dexterity and strength in both hands are required.
• Awareness that the work environment may include exposure to bloodborne pathogens or infectious diseases.
