Role overview
Comfort Keepers Victoria is hiring a Registered Care Aide to support clients in the Sidney area. This is a hands-on caregiving role focused on helping seniors and other clients remain safe, comfortable, and as independent as possible in their homes. Available shifts range from 3 to 12 hours, and the organization operates services around the clock.
What you will do
- Support the delivery of home care and related services under the guidance of the health care team.
- Monitor clients and report meaningful changes in their condition or behaviour.
- Work closely with the care team, clients, and family or other caregivers to promote independence in daily living activities and instrumental daily living tasks.
- Help with personal care such as bathing, showering, dressing, moving around, eating, and toileting.
- Assist with household tasks, including meal preparation, grocery shopping, and laundry.
- Encourage, engage, and motivate clients to take part in their own care.
- Share observations and suggestions during care planning discussions with the health care team.
- Keep the client environment clean, organized, and safe for everyone.
- Transport clients in their own vehicle for appointments and outings when needed.

Requirements
- Completion of a recognized Health Care Assistant program, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience, along with a BC Registry Number.
- Ability to obtain, or already possess, a criminal record check.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Respectful and effective interpersonal skills.
- Physical capability to perform the duties required by the position.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize work.
- Comfort using relevant equipment associated with the role.
- A valid driver’s licence and access to a dependable vehicle are considered an advantage.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
Additional information
The organization serves seniors throughout the island and nearby communities, including Sidney, Saanich, Oak Bay, Fairfield, James Bay, Esquimalt, Sooke, and the Westshore area. The role may involve travel across these locations, and matching with clients in a nearby area is attempted whenever possible.
