Job description

Role Overview

Join the Ophthalmology Outpatient team as a Healthcare Support Worker, providing compassionate and essential care to patients, service users, their families, and carers. This role involves both direct and indirect patient care, operating within defined boundaries and achieving required competencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supportive care to patients and service users within the ophthalmology outpatient environment.
  • Work independently within competence levels, using initiative without constant supervision.
  • Consistently demonstrate Trust values and behaviors, serving as a role model by delivering high-standard care.
  • Advocate for patients, respecting and addressing the diverse needs of the community.
  • Undertake ophthalmology-specific investigations following training and clinical supervision.

Requirements

  • Possess a Care Certificate issued by a previous employer.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, carers, and healthcare team members.
  • Be enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed to delivering outstanding patient care.

Development and Progression

This position serves as a developmental role; upon achieving and demonstrating all required competencies, the post holder will progress to Band 3.
