What you’ll do

  • Arrange medical appointments by aligning patient needs, provider availability, and facility resources while following established procedures
  • Use electronic medical records and scheduling systems to handle appointments, tests, and procedures accurately and efficiently
  • Collect and record patient demographic details and insurance data needed for referrals and authorizations
  • Share appointment instructions and preparation details with patients so they know what to expect
  • Maintain strong relationships with patients and providers through clear, professional communication across multiple channels

Required qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent practical working knowledge
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience in a healthcare environment, such as a medical office or hospital scheduling team
  • Comfort using technology tools to find accurate information and respond to customer questions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a consistently positive, customer-focused attitude
  • Good organization, time management, and keyboarding accuracy

Preferred background

  • Experience in an inbound call center or with scheduling in a practice management setting
  • Familiarity with medical terminology
  • Knowledge of payor contract terms and related processes
  • Additional relevant education and/or experience
