About the Role

We are seeking multiple Associates at various experience levels to join our highly regarded Tier 1 Healthcare team located in Southampton, England, with opportunities also in Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and London. Our client base is extensive and varied, encompassing public and private hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, insurers, healthcare suppliers and distributors, healthcare-focused private equity firms, as well as governmental health ministries and regulatory authorities. Supported by a broad international network spanning the UK, Europe, US, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Middle East, we provide cohesive global legal services to our healthcare clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Applying legal expertise and technical knowledge to navigate complex healthcare-related legal challenges.
• Drafting and interpreting sophisticated legal documents leveraging specialized legal understanding.
• Offering advice and guidance on claims involving allegations of professional standard breaches.
• Conducting legal discussions and maintaining communication with clients and witnesses effectively.
• Contributing to industry knowledge by presenting at seminars, writing articles, and organizing client events.
• Understanding client businesses thoroughly to identify and deliver value-added services.
• Preparing requisite court filings and documents.
• Spotting potential business development opportunities and fostering ongoing client relationships.
• Actively seeking cross-practice collaboration within our global firm network.
• Effectively managing client expectations and key concerns to achieve successful outcomes.

Required Skills and Experience

• Applicants typically possess at least 1 year post-qualification experience, though all suitably skilled candidates will be considered.
• Demonstrated strong legal acumen, initiative, and the ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload efficiently.
• Significant experience in defended clinical negligence litigation, including complex medical malpractice cases and multimillion-pound claims.
• Experience within the healthcare sector is essential.
• Solicitors must hold a current practicing certificate per the Solicitors Act 1974 and have completed a Training Contract or equivalent, along with relevant education including Legal Practice Course, Graduate Diploma in Law (if applicable), a 2:1 honors degree or equivalent qualifications.
