What the role involves
The Healthcare Assistant works as part of a multi-disciplinary team and supports personal care that helps residents remain as independent as possible. The position also includes attention to residents’ physical, emotional, and cultural needs.
Key duties
- Support residents with washing, hygiene, and dressing.
- Carry out safe manual handling and transfers within the nursing home.
- Serve meals and assist residents with feeding where needed.
- Collect used trays and dishes, and keep resident rooms and shared areas tidy.
- Make beds and change linens.
- Provide continence and toileting support, including emptying commodes and changing catheter bags.
- Assist trained nurses with psychological and social support when required.
- Maintain constant awareness of residents’ dignity, comfort, safety, and location.
- Follow all hygiene, health, and safety standards at all times.
- Take on other duties as assigned.
