About the Role
Ranked second in The Irish Independent’s “Ireland's Best Employer 2025” list, Irish Wheelchair Association (IWA) is seeking compassionate and dedicated Healthcare Assistants (Personal Assistants) to join our team in the Kildare area. We offer flexible full-time and part-time opportunities based on your availability. The primary goal of this position is to support Service Users in achieving maximum independence across all daily living activities by assisting with personal care, domestic tasks, social and educational support, travel arrangements, and companionship. This role occurs primarily within the homes and communities of service users.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wage ranges from €16.22 to €18.03 depending on experience
- Higher rates before 8 am and after 8 pm at €20.27 per hour
- Sunday pay starts at €24.33 per hour
- Public holiday rate is from €32.44 per hour
- Paid mileage between client visits

Key Responsibilities
- Provide personal care, social, educational, domestic assistance, and companionship tailored to individual client needs
- Operate primarily within the home and community settings of the service users
- Foster close communication and coordination with other home care providers and liaise with ALS Coordinators and scheduling staff
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of Full Major Award at QQI Level 5 in Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, Healthcare Support, or a related field is required, or a strong commitment to complete this qualification
- Proven experience in a caring role working with people is essential
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to maintain strict confidentiality
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English
- Possession of a full valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle is mandatory
