About the Role
The Irish Wheelchair Association, ranked second in Ireland's Best Employer 2025, is seeking compassionate Healthcare Assistants (Personal Assistants) to join the team serving North Kildare, including Celbridge, Leixlip, Maynooth, Kilcock, and Clane. The position demands 30 hours per week with availability required for mornings, evenings, and every alternate weekend between 7:30am and 10:00pm.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly wages range from €16.22 to €18.03, depending on experience.
- Early mornings (before 8am) and late evenings (after 8pm) are compensated at €20.27 per hour.
- Sundays paid at €24.33 per hour.
- Public holidays paid at €32.44 per hour.

Primary Responsibilities
The role focuses on supporting service users to achieve optimal independence in daily living by assisting with personal care, domestic tasks, social and educational support, travel, and companionship. Work is conducted within clients' homes and community environments. Strong collaboration and communication with fellow Home carers and ALS Coordinators/Scheduling staff is essential.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Completion of Full Major Award at QQI Level 5 in Community Health Services, Health Service Skills, Healthcare Support, or an equivalent qualification with commitment to finalize the award.
- Proven experience in a caregiving capacity is mandatory.
- Must be reliable, trustworthy, and uphold confidentiality at all times.
- Excellent communication abilities with strong spoken and written English proficiency.
- Possession of a full driving licence and access to a personal vehicle is required.
