Job description
Overview
Join the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's team at the Golden Door Geriatric Centre as a compassionate and detail-conscious Health Unit Clerk. Working within the Nursing department, this role facilitates coordination among healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care for residents.
Key Duties
- Accurately transcribe and manage physician orders and maintain up-to-date clinical records.
- Oversee resident admissions including arranging admission packages and managing their records.
- Update medication administration records (MARs), treatment administration records (TARs), charts, and other relevant documentation.
- Schedule and coordinate appointments, labs, and updates to residents' information.
- Foster effective communication between physicians, nurses, pharmacy staff, allied health professionals, residents, and families.
- Maintain the confidentiality and organization of resident files.
- Prepare administrative reports and support care teams with necessary documentation and tracking tasks.
- Collaborate closely with nursing and other healthcare staff to enhance resident care quality.
Qualifications
- Completion of an accredited Health Unit Clerk Certificate Program.
- Experience in geriatric or long-term care settings is advantageous.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively in fast-paced environments.
- Proficiency with healthcare documentation, data entry, and electronic health records.
- Demonstrated professionalism, respect, and empathy towards senior residents.
- Physical capability to fulfill the duties associated with this position.
Employment Conditions
- This unionized role requires a satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search along with Child and Adult Abuse Registry Checks within six months before employment.
- Employees cannot hold multiple positions within WRHA that total more than full-time equivalency (1.0 FTE).
- Those with prior service under CUPE in Manitoba may be eligible to transfer benefits; notification to management within five business days is required.
- Work schedule consists of full-time equivalent hours (2080 annually), Monday to Friday, daytime shifts of 8 hours each.
