About the Opportunity
Our client, a healthcare organization based in North York, Ontario, is seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Specialist for an on-site contract role lasting between 8 to 12 weeks, with the possibility of extension. This role is critical in ensuring the protection and well-being of staff across multiple healthcare sites by enhancing safety procedures and supporting compliance with upcoming accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct mask fit testing for healthcare staff to maintain safety compliance.
- Facilitate training sessions focused on proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques for clinical personnel.
- Carry out ergonomic assessments to identify risks and recommend practical solutions.
- Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans addressing employee concerns and workplace hazards.
- Support initiatives aimed at preventing workplace violence in accordance with Ontario legislation.
- Assist with injury investigations and reporting in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum three years' experience in health and safety, ideally within healthcare or comparable settings.
- Thorough knowledge of Ontario health and safety laws, including regulations on workplace violence.
- Proven experience in delivering engaging training sessions to varied groups.
- Expertise in performing ergonomic evaluations and injury prevention methods.
- Ability to efficiently handle multiple tasks while proactively addressing safety issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant education in health and safety fields.
