Within Saudi Arabia, Bechtel has been awarded the Project Management Consultancy for the development of the King Salman International Airport (KSIA) in Riyadh. This major project includes construction of three new terminals aiming to accommodate up to 120 million travelers by 2030 and 185 million by 2050, along with significant cargo capacity expansion.

Role Summary

The Health & Safety Coordinator role is specifically reserved for Saudi Nationals. This position involves aiding the execution and management of Environmental, Safety and Health (ESH) programs, enforcing compliance with standards and regulations, and providing essential support to protect personnel, property, and the environment within project operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the application of Bechtel's ESH Management System, ensuring alignment with company standards, regulatory requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining programs and procedures essential for employee safety and environmental protection.
  • Manage ESH data including incident records, audits, and corrective actions, and perform trend analyses to foster continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate specialized software and electronic solutions for ESH teams and lead risk assessments, mitigation planning, and monitoring activities linked to safety issues.
  • Prepare communications, reports, and documentation necessary for program implementation and record keeping.
  • Lead incident notifications and investigations; produce detailed investigation reports.
  • Recommend and implement procedural enhancements to reduce hazard risks.
  • Participate in training, emergency preparedness, and quality assurance initiatives.
  • Support recognition programs, perform regulatory research, and provide technical guidance on ESH matters.
  • Offer broad assistance to ESH teams across disciplines in both field and office environments.

Educational and Experience Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or international equivalent with 2 to 5 years of related experience, or alternatively 6 to 9 years of relevant work experience.
  • Preferred candidates hold internationally recognized health and safety certifications such as NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalents.

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Prior experience working in Saudi Arabia or the Middle East region.
  • Ability to foster collaborative team environments supporting diverse work cultures.
  • Expertise in conducting inspections, assessments, and audits per project safety leadership guidance.
  • Proven leadership in coaching and mentoring to drive team success.
  • Strong commitment to embedding ESH principles as a core value.
  • Effective prioritization skills to meet established deadlines and objectives.
  • Familiarity with ESH management systems and relevant laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Understanding of construction methods, systems, and work processes with risk mitigation knowledge.
  • Skilled communication abilities in English, both written and oral.
