Job description
Opportunity Overview
We are looking for a proactive Health and Safety Consultant to lead and embed a strong safety culture throughout a new deployment programme. This role involves ensuring safety considerations at every stage of planning and execution, guaranteeing full compliance with the companies' Networks Safety Management Systems, policies, procedures, and standards.
The position requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental specialists to provide integrated solutions for public and private sector clients in sustainable water, wastewater, and environmental infrastructure projects.
Key Role Responsibilities
As a Health and Safety Specialist, you will champion safety integration across all deployment activities by regularly monitoring, investigating, and reporting on safety issues such as incidents, audits, near misses, customer complaints, and safety notices. Management of contractor incident logging and tracking will be essential, alongside conducting audits of contractor safety and quality management systems. You will assess contractor safety KPIs, review safety observations, produce reports, and conduct site visits to foster continuous improvement and maintain safe working practices.
Your Impact
Your efforts will ensure a safe working environment by embedding a safety-first mindset in all planning and operational procedures. By identifying risks early, promoting compliance, and collaborating effectively with teams and contractors, you will contribute to the prevention of incidents and the ongoing enhancement of safety standards. Your on-site presence, audits, and insights will elevate safety performance and quality in the delivery of infrastructure that benefits communities safely and sustainably.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will act as a Health & Safety expert supporting a large national deployment effort. Responsibilities include maintaining proactive site involvement, analyzing safety data to identify trends, and leading initiatives aimed at continuous safety improvement. You should be able to influence safety behaviors positively and challenge standards when necessary.
