Job description
Role overview
This position is for an accomplished Head of English Language Arts to help launch and lead a new American high school program in Saudi Arabia. The opportunity involves building the ELA stream from the ground up, with responsibility for creating a strong, engaging, and technology-driven academic offering while contributing to a broader vision for innovative teaching.
The role covers the full development of the ELA program, including curriculum planning, teaching approach, assessment design, lesson pacing, and support for other teachers. In addition, the person in this role will personally teach one of the courses. It is not a conventional classroom job; instead, it sits within a highly interactive hybrid model that blends remote teachers, in-person facilitators, and digital learning tools.
This position can be remote, and relocation is not required.
What you will do
- Create the ELA curriculum and course structure for Noon’s hybrid learning platform, including units, lessons, assessments, homework, and related materials. The immediate focus is Grades 9 and 10 ahead of the Fall 2026 launch, with work beginning now through August.
- Guide, coach, and support other ELA teachers so they can deliver the curriculum effectively.
- Teach one section of the online ELA course starting in August, ensuring it aligns with the planned curriculum and learning goals.
- Continuously refine lessons and learning resources so they remain effective and engaging.
- Use digital platforms and educational technology to boost participation, engagement, and differentiated instruction.
- Work closely with the wider team to improve the curriculum, teaching approach, and overall student learning experience.
Must-have qualifications
- Proven experience building American-style high school ELA curriculum aligned to CCSS standards.
- Background in designing and/or delivering ELA content for learners who may be using English as a second language.
- A recognized teaching-related qualification such as a BA/MA in the subject area, TESOL, CELTA, or an equivalent credential.
- At least 5 years of experience.
- Availability to work full-time from Sunday to Thursday in GMT+3, with possible flexibility for a half-day Sunday morning and half-day Friday arrangement.
- Experience teaching online groups of 5 or more students.
- Native-level English from an English-speaking country such as the US, UK, South Africa, or Australia.
- Stable internet access and a professional-quality video setup.
Preferred advantages
- Exposure to AI tools or new educational technologies that can support ELA teaching.
- Arabic language ability.
- Experience creating or delivering ELA curriculum in a Muslim context.
What this opportunity is looking for
- A person ready to take on the challenge of designing and delivering a strong Grade 9 and 10 ELA program by August 2026.
- Someone comfortable owning the full scope of ELA program development, teacher training, and course delivery.
- A teacher-leader who is excited by educational innovation and open to using modern tools and methods in the classroom.
Who fits best
- This role is well suited to experienced Heads of ELA from American international schools who enjoy building new programs and experimenting with fresh approaches.
- It is not a fit for candidates who prefer fixed routines or highly standardized methods.
- Self-directed professionals who thrive in dynamic settings and non-traditional teaching models are encouraged.
Additional details
- The role may be remote, or hybrid if the candidate is based in Saudi Arabia.
- The preferred start is immediate.
Application process
Interested candidates who feel aligned with the role are encouraged to submit their interest. Candidates who are shortlisted will move through a structured hiring process.
