Role Overview
This leadership position is responsible for directing and scaling a network of fulfillment warehouses across the United States through strategic growth and operational enhancements. The role involves spearheading the creation of new warehouse facilities as well as boosting the effectiveness, capacity, and efficiency of existing sites. Candidates will engage in broad infrastructure planning, facility design, vendor coordination, and continuous improvement efforts.
Working closely with operations, engineering, safety, and business units, the successful applicant will lead impactful projects from initial concept to full execution. This role is suited for a proactive leader comfortable navigating complex settings and eager to develop scalable operational solutions. The individual will influence network expansion, cost management, and customer satisfaction by optimizing fulfillment activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct end-to-end launches of fulfillment centers, managing schedule, key milestones, stakeholder consensus, and operational readiness.
- Oversee the design and set-up of warehouse layouts, infrastructure development, and installation of material handling equipment to maximize workflow and output.
- Maintain strong partnerships with contractors, equipment vendors, real estate collaborators, and executives to guarantee project success.
- Prepare capacity forecasts considering storage needs, expansion trends, seasonal fluctuations, and future operational demands.
- Lead projects to redesign and enhance current warehouse layouts to boost capacity and process efficiency while minimizing disruptions.
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance schemes for equipment, inspections, HVAC, safety apparatus, and uptime assurance.
- Collaborate with safety and engineering teams to meet all operational, environmental, and regulatory compliances.
- Use facility performance analytics to identify cost savings, productivity enhancements, space utilization increases, and fulfillment improvements.
- Drive enterprise-wide initiatives by developing business cases, managing execution plans, and measuring operational outcomes.
Candidate Requirements
- A minimum of five years experience in fulfillment or warehouse operations or program management.
- At least five years experience in negotiations; background in commercial real estate preferred.
- Demonstrated ability managing large-scale programs with cross-functional groups and stakeholder coordination.
- Expertise in space planning, labor modeling, process improvement, and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving, with experience leveraging data for forecasting and optimization.
- Skillful in navigating ambiguous situations, prioritizing tasks, and delivering results in dynamic environments.
- Excellent communication, organizational capabilities, and stakeholder relationship management.
- A self-starter able to take ownership of strategic goals and work independently.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain Management, or related field preferred.
- Experience with commercial real estate dealings, including lease negotiations or facility development, is an asset.
