Role Overview
The Head of Trade, Corporate Accounts & Specialty Pharmacies will spearhead the commercial and strategic initiatives across Canada's trade channels, distribution partnerships, and corporate accounts to enhance patient accessibility and achieve sustainable business expansion with the biosimilars and specialty portfolio. Reporting to the General Manager and leading within the Canadian Leadership Team, this position works closely with cross-functional teams including Commercial, Market Access, PSP, Supply Chain, Finance, Regulatory, and Medical Affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and manage the national trade strategy including key distribution partnerships.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain and Finance teams to optimize distribution frameworks, enhance inventory controls, service quality, and profitability.
- Identify and implement operational improvements aimed at customer experience enhancement.
- Lead risk management and business continuity efforts within the distribution network.
- Develop and execute corporate account strategies in alignment with company growth goals.
- Manage relationships with distributors, wholesalers, specialty pharmacies, buying groups, and emerging healthcare partners.
- Negotiate complex commercial agreements to secure strategic business partnerships.
- Drive specialty pharmacy strategies across therapeutic areas, fostering executive relationships and optimizing channel performance to improve patient outcomes.
- Provide leadership in trade and specialty pharmacy domains to support new product launches and expansion projects.
- Coordinate cross-functional communication for launch readiness and commercialization activities.
- Lead integrated customer strategy development alongside Market Access, Sales, Marketing, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, Legal, Finance, and Supply Chain teams.
- Own financial planning, contract negotiation, and performance metrics at the account level, ensuring efficient resource utilization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Life Sciences, Healthcare Administration, or a related field is required.
- Minimum of eight years progressive experience in pharmaceutical distribution and corporate account management.
- Demonstrated track record in managing strategic partnerships and complex contract negotiations.
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian pharmaceutical market including distribution and specialty pharmacy channels.
- Strong commercial insight and financial management skills.
- Capable of influencing senior-level stakeholders externally and internally.
- Preferred qualifications include bilingual proficiency (English/French), an advanced degree (MBA/equivalent), and experience launching specialty or biosimilar products in Canada.
- Established networks within the healthcare distribution and specialty pharmacy sectors.
