Head of Technology Governance

Role Overview

We are hiring a strategic Head of Technology Governance to spearhead the establishment and leadership of our client's IT governance framework. This crucial position ensures technology risk management effectiveness and alignment of IT efforts with broader organizational goals. The role entails governance of IT policies, compliance adherence, third-party risk control, and promoting a culture of accountability and ongoing advancement within the technology division. Collaboration across senior leadership, risk, compliance, and IT teams is essential to embed governance practices into every dimension of technology operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and mitigate technology risks aligned with risk appetite and organizational mitigation plans.
• Partner with risk teams to regularly assess IT systems, processes, and vendor audits.
• Ensure adherence to pertinent laws, regulations, and standards such as GDPR, SOX, and ISO 27001.
• Lead responses to IT audits and regulatory reviews, supplying documentation evidencing compliance.
• Manage the lifecycle of IT policies and procedures including creation, review, and updates, ensuring broad communication and compliance.
• Design and enforce incident management workflows to guarantee swift, effective responses to IT and security incidents and operational interruptions.
• Direct root cause analyses and remediation to prevent recurrences, bolstering system resilience.
• Oversee third-party risk assessments and develop a comprehensive vendor risk management framework including due diligence, continual monitoring, and review.
• Verify vendor compliance with organizational IT governance and regulatory standards.
• Construct and monitor KPIs and metrics to evaluate governance effectiveness.
• Produce and deliver reports on IT governance, risk, compliance, and vendor risk for senior management and governance committees.
• Serve as the interface between IT and business units to align IT initiatives with organizational strategy.
• Collaborate with senior executives to guide technology strategies while maintaining strong governance and risk controls.

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years of experience in IT governance, risk management, compliance, or related areas.
• Demonstrated success implementing IT governance frameworks and managing technology and third-party risks.
• Proficient in incident management, application security risk evaluation, and handling IT audits with regulatory entities.
• Certifications like CISM, CRISC, CGEIT, ITIL, COBIT, or CISSP are highly valued.
• Deep knowledge of IT governance principles, risk practices, security, and compliance standards.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal abilities.
• Capable of influencing senior leadership and working effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
