Position Overview

Woongarra State School is looking for an experienced educator to take on the role of Head of Special Education Services (HOSES). This leadership position focuses on enhancing inclusive education and supporting students with disabilities and diverse learning needs across the cluster of four schools: Woongarra State School, Elliott Heads State School, Thabeban State School, and Alloway State School.

Role Responsibilities and Collaboration

  • Provide educational leadership that fosters inclusion and supports high-quality learning outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with school principals, leadership teams, inclusion teachers, classroom teachers, teacher aides, families, and regional support services.
  • Lead the development and implementation of inclusive education strategies within the cluster.
  • Balance a teaching component alongside leadership duties.
  • Regularly travel between the cluster schools is required.
  • Maintain direct engagement with students, staff members, and families while overseeing strategic initiatives.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Proven leadership skills in coaching and mentoring staff to enhance capabilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to build effective relationships.
  • Ability to analyze educational data to inform evidence-based improvements.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills to manage leadership responsibilities across multiple locations alongside teaching tasks.
  • Commitment to the Department's values including equity, excellence, integrity, and respect.

Additional Information

  • The HOSES role reports directly to the Principal of Woongarra State School and collaborates closely with principals from the other three cluster schools.
  • Supervision and professional leadership responsibilities include inclusion staff and teacher aides based at Woongarra State School, with partnership across cluster schools.
