Job description

Role overview

An early-stage, founder-led luxury food and beverage lifestyle company in New York City is hiring a Head of Social Marketing to take charge of how the brand shows up online. The business is building a premium consumer offering spanning wine, chocolate, coffee, tea, e-commerce, gifting, subscriptions, physical retail, and selected consumer packaged goods. The brand is aimed at discerning customers who appreciate craftsmanship, quality, thoughtful design, and an elevated yet approachable experience.

This is one of the company’s first key marketing hires and will be central to defining the brand’s social presence, audience growth, influencer ecosystem, and community engagement. The role sits at an executive or senior leadership level and reports directly to the Founder. The company is small, privately owned, and well funded, with a long-term ambition to build a high-quality luxury brand from the ground up.

What you will own

You will be responsible for shaping the brand’s social marketing strategy and ensuring its voice stays distinctive, credible, human, and commercially effective. This position combines strategy with day-to-day execution and requires someone comfortable building in a startup environment without the support structure of a large marketing department.

Core responsibilities

  • Set the organic social media direction across major platforms such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, and other relevant emerging channels.
  • Plan and maintain a content calendar aligned to launches, seasonal campaigns, cultural moments, retail experiences, and brand storytelling.
  • Work with internal specialists and brand ambassadors to produce authentic content in multiple formats, including short video, long-form video, behind-the-scenes material, product education, interviews, podcasts, and written pieces.
  • Convert the brand positioning into a consistent social tone that feels polished, engaging, personal, and commercially purposeful.
  • Design and run influencer, creator, ambassador, and community initiatives, focusing on credible micro-influencers and niche audiences across food, beverage, lifestyle, luxury, and New York culture.
  • Spot collaboration opportunities with aligned partners in hospitality, lifestyle, fashion, media, and other premium consumer categories.
  • Actively participate in online community management to increase awareness, loyalty, user-generated content, and organic reach.
  • Coordinate with external agencies or internal teams on paid media, performance marketing, email, analytics, and e-commerce conversion projects when needed.
  • Define and monitor key performance measures for organic social, influencer activity, community engagement, content performance, and customer acquisition.

Candidate profile

The ideal hire will have deep social media and content marketing experience within premium or luxury consumer brands, especially in direct-to-consumer environments where storytelling, influencer relationships, and community building have contributed to growth. Suitable backgrounds may include luxury food and beverage, wine and spirits, specialty coffee, fine chocolate, premium hospitality, luxury lifestyle, watches and jewelry, fashion, beauty, or similar sectors where taste, craftsmanship, and desirability matter.

The company is open to a strong Director-level marketer or a high-potential senior social/content leader ready for broader ownership. The right person should be entrepreneurial, resourceful, highly collaborative, and comfortable working with limited infrastructure.

Location and working arrangement

The role is based in New York City, with a planned market focus on the US. Although the broader posting references remote work policy language, the role itself expects full-time in-person presence in New York City, with only limited flexibility where appropriate.

Compensation and employment terms

The annual base salary range is USD 175,000 to 200,000, plus bonus and equity. This is a full-time position. Visa sponsorship is not available, and candidates must already have valid work authorization. The job ID is ZR_9578_JOB.

Company context

The employer is a small, privately owned consumer company operating in the beverage, food, and food-and-beverages/confectionery space. Its business model includes online-first commerce followed by a planned physical location in New York City, supported by e-commerce, gifting, subscriptions, retail, and curated consumer products.
