Overview
We are seeking a Head of SHES (Safety, Health, Environment, and Security) to join a major brownfield restoration project in Ras Laffan, Qatar. The role involves providing leadership and governance for the South Train 4 & 6 Restoration Project focused on ensuring safe operations while protecting people, assets, and the environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead SHES strategy and governance framework for the project.
- Ensure adherence to the LNG Company SHES Management System and relevant regulatory standards.
- Oversee contractor SHES performance management and assurance initiatives.
- Provide SHES leadership and guidance to Project Management, Operations, and multiple EPC contractors.
- Drive strategic risk management and critical risk control verification processes.
- Approve project SHES plans, procedures, and assurance programs.
- Lead investigations of major incidents and promote organizational learning.
- Develop SHES capability, succession plans, and leadership coaching.
- Encourage workforce engagement, welfare, and cultivate a positive safety culture.
- Champion continuous improvement and SHES excellence during project execution.
Candidate Requirements
- At least 10 years of SHES experience in the Oil and Gas industry, including 2 years in supervisory or oversight roles involving service/vendor personnel.
- Preferably experience with brownfield projects.
- Proven experience working in large-scale operational organizations such as Operations, Projects, or Subsurface sectors.
- Familiarity with SHES management systems and programs specific to Oil and Gas industries.
- Experience collaborating with Oil & Gas companies, contractors, and service providers.
- Bachelor’s degree in sciences, safety, health, environment security, or engineering.
Project Context
This role supports a significant brownfield LNG restoration project within an operating LNG facility. It involves handling SIMOPS, shutdown activities, major construction coordination, process safety, permit to work governance, energy isolation, heavy lifting, commissioning preparations, and regulatory compliance. The candidate will oversee multiple EPC contractors and manage a workforce of several hundred staff.
